Where to get tested

topic posted Sat, July 28, 2007 - 5:46 PM by  JAKEYERBOOTY
Hi all
I live in Santa Rosa.
I do not know where to go to get a full screen std test.
I got my last test from my doctor.
This was fine, but after insurance paid for the first 400, I got a bill for the remaining 250
I think thats a little stiff...actually, a lot stiff
I did some online research, but could not find any other options.
The clinic up here will only perform tests on an "as needed" basis...ie, if you believe that you have been exposed or if you have symptoms for something particular.

Any leads/advice for something comprehensive and less expensive?

Thanks
J

Hey Call this number it's the AIDS/HIV/HEP C nightline
    They have a national # 1800-628-9240.
They should have a list of location to test at .
If you have any questions about testing, let me know, I am a test counsler in SF.
    Good luck

not going to be helpful for Santa Rosa, but you might have something similar up there as we do down here:

Adult Industry Medical (google for info) does full-panel testing here in LA. They are catered to folks in the Industry but a) they're prices are reasonable b) they're easy to deal with and c) they get results back fast.

Additionally they do the PCR test for HIV (2-week window as opposed to 6-months for antibody). I got a HSV I/II screen for about $80, HIV is about $150 i think, and a full comprehensive panel I think is about $300.

Only downside being they don't take insurance, but overall I recommend them pretty highly.

Honestly I'd check around with any folks up in the Bay in the same line of work and find out where they go.

(oh and the best part about AIM is you get an embossed certificate, hang it on your wall! :P)
