Just got an AIDS test for my birthday, and came back negative! Yay!
The new tests are awesome - just a quick, painless swab to the gums and then you only have to wait 20 minutes for the result - that's amazing!!!

Sat, November 11, 2006 - 1:30 PMYou know what's crazy - i called the Stop Aids Project in SF to get tested on Mondays and they told me they only test Gay Males, Bi Males and FTMS. Then they referred me elsewhere. I was shocked and told them that sucked.
They told me that they only test the highest risk cases - well, if that's true, according to recent statistics, they should only test women of color who sleep with men of color. -

Sat, November 11, 2006 - 4:07 PMWell that's because our new governor has eliminated funding for testing except in these "high risk" cases, thus fueling the myth that AIDS is a gay/druggie/ethic disease.
Planned Parenthood has expanded its mission recently to include men, but they do charge. Just a thought. Service can vary widely from office to office. -

Sun, November 12, 2006 - 5:46 PMI ran into the same message at S. F. Magnet - they have the new oral test, but you can only get it if you're gay, bi or transgender. Since I am bisexual, in my case it was no hassle, but I don't think it's really fair.
