Herpes vaccine

Has anyone had any personal experience with it or known someone close who has gotten it?

Do you think it's safe? Effective? I've seen it offered at several labs and been very curious. But with new things I always hate getting them done ... that whole human guinea pig thing.

    Herpes or HPV Vaccine....?

To my knowledge there is no Herpes vaccine on the market. There is a HPV vaccine (Human Papoloma Virus, which causes genital warts and cervical dysplasia).

Unless you are talking about something that is still being tested and becoming part of a clinical trial (which I haven't heard of either).

"They" are testing a herpes vaccine, but it's only in the testing stages yet. And you have to be a woman, and negative for both types, to participate.

here's a link to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases page on the "Herpevac" trial:

There's a list of study locations nationwide and requirements to participate on the site.

I know it is still a test vaccine, hence the human guinea pig comment. This website is helpful, thanks for the link. I wish there was a way to find out if any of the test subjects feel they got herpes from the study. The site says its impossible, of course, which it very well may be, but I know I am clean and would be willing to get a vaccine to keep it that way if I knew there was no chance of me falling into what I'm trying to prevent.

i am in the herpevac trial and have had no issues as of yet. I have gotten my three doses of whichever vaccine (either the herpes vaccine or a hep A vaccination) with little to no side effects. I go get my blood drawn to see if i have contracted herpes in the course of my life. you cannot contract herpes from this vaccine as it contains a subunit protein of the virus not the whole virus. It is now in phase three clinical trials which is almost finished in terms of the vaccine approval and has had no issues thus far. if you have more questions, please let me know as i will more then happy to answer your questions
